Made from vulcanised rubber, Ebonite is amongst the materials of choice for custom pen makers. It's the material traditionally used by many of the best commercial pen manufacturers as a high end alternative to acrylics. Ebonite has a very long history. It is considered the first “synthetic resin” to become widely used.
In 1839, ebonite was invented by Mr. Charles Goodyear in the United States.

Delightful Nikko Ebonite Pen

I was looking for an ebonite pen in the UK, and this was exactly what I was looking for. I have been using the pen for a few days and thoroughly enjoy using it. For your money, you are getting a well-turned pen body. All the screw threads are cut well and the polished finish is great. The proportions of their pen model feel good in the hand.

The provided Bock 250 nib needed some tuning before it would write as wet as I wanted, but this is typical of mass-manufactured nib units like Bock and JOWO. The nib units are easy to disassemble and tinker with. The fact the pen uses a standard nib like Bock is a selling point. It means I can try different nibs and feeds. It now performs just how I want.

Gilbert House Pens also included a bottle of Diamine Jet Black which was appreciated! Thank you.

Would I buy from them again? Absolutely yes. Good product, a good price (for a handmade item), and fast shipping.
